Set within the Cotswolds landscape, The Edge is a residential project that brings together existing structures and contemporary architecture to create a carefully balanced family home. The house is arranged around a series of sheltered outdoor spaces, with new volumes introduced alongside retained elements to form a clear yet understated architectural composition.
From the outset, the project reads as both grounded and precise, rooted in its rural context while confidently contemporary in its detailing and spatial organisation.
My role was to photograph the house in a way that communicates this balance, documenting how the architecture responds to site, light and material rather than presenting it as a standalone object.
The external photography focuses on how the house sits within its setting and how its form is experienced on approach. Wide views establish the relationship between the building, the landscape and the retained boundary elements, while closer perspectives reveal the way the new architecture is scaled and articulated.
Rather than relying on a single dominant elevation, the project reveals itself gradually. Photographing this sequence was key — allowing the building to be read as a collection of interconnected spaces rather than a single gesture.
Inside, the house is organised around a series of calm, light-filled rooms that feel closely connected to the exterior. My interior photographs concentrate on spatial flow, proportions and the way daylight moves through the building across different times of day.
Primary living spaces are shown alongside circulation and transitional areas to give a clear sense of how the house functions as a whole. Care was taken to photograph from viewpoints that emphasise depth, alignment and material continuity, reflecting the architect’s focus on clarity and restraint.
